Carne Asada Torta=Steak Sandwich

mmmmmm....... that is all I can say. My hubby and I are obsessed with tortas. There is this little Mexican place in a small town we visit that sells the most authentic torta you will ever eat. We have begged them for their secrets, but they will not give them up (even with bribes!) So.... I have been perfecting it for a long time and I finally hit the jackpot.

This is a process... so if you want it to be amazing, put in the hard work.

You will need:
Carne Asada meat (beef roast, cut against the grain in paper thin strips)
Telero rolls (some walmarts sell them, if you cannot find them use kings Hawaiian sandwich rolls)
white onion
tomato
cilantro
avocado

Carne Asada marinade (important step)

1/4 cup orange, lemon and lime juice
1/4 cup oil
1 tbsp salt, paprika, dried oregano, chili powder
whisk together and pour over 1 lb of carne asada meat in a gallon bag
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Marinate overnight.

Chipotle Mayonnaise

1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup vinegar
1 clove garlic chopped
2 tbsp chipolte pepper pureed (I bought it in the can, it eliminates some of the hard work)

Marinate the sliced onion and 1/4 cup chopped cilantro in equal parts white vinegar and water with a spoonful of white sugar. At least an hour, then drain juices.

Cook the meat on the barbecue on medium heat for about 3 min per side.

Spread mayo on both sides of the bread and grill until hot and crispy.

Put the meat , tomato, onion, avocado, cilantro and a little of the mayo mix on top and eat like a sandwich.
