Saving money on produce

This is the one thing that you cannot coupon for... produce. This is the one area where I don't really look at the price because I want the fresh organic stuff.

But, you can stock up on it if you find a great price and freeze it. For example, I had some peppers and cauliflower that I had not used and we were going out of town. I cut up the peppers and put them into freezer bags...perfect for a stir fry or a meal that calls for peppers!

The cauliflower needs to be blanched before you put it in the freezer. All you do is boil water, cut up the cauliflower and put it in boiling water in small portions so it never looses its boil. Leave in the water for 3 min at the most. Drain water and leave on a towel until most the water is dried off them. Put them in a freezer bag and you have fresh frozen veggies!

  1. I love having things in the freezer to pull out and just throw together. Stir fry is always a fave at our house! Stopping by from Friday Follow!

And if you don't buy organic, there are coupons for produce!

  3. This is a great idea. There are probably a few things I should throw in the freezer tonight. I didn't think about how easy it is to freeze most fresh produce. Thanks!

  5. Hi there! Thanks for joining the Friday Follow celebration. I am already a follower.

I appreciate these tips. Produce is something I waste too much of and don't buy often enough because of that.
